QuizQuiz Trade(Kagan,2009) STEP BY STEP

(1) You will need cards with the question and answer on the same side. (see Resource Tab).

(2) Ask students to stand up and walk around the room with one hand in the air.

(3) On the teacher's say so, students high five the person next to them and Partner A asks the

     question on their card.

(4) Partner B answers the question.

(5) If Partner B isn't sure, Partner A coaches them until they get the right answer and gives

      positive affirmation.

(6) Roles are then reversed.

(7) Once both cards have been used, partners swap cards.

(8) Both students then raise their hands, high five someone else in the room with their hand

      up and repeat the process.

QuizQuiz Trade (Kagan,2009) is particularly useful to review content already explored and to develop class cohesiveness. Students really enjoy the structure and it gets them moving around the room and interacting with the whole class. You will need to have content cards prepared (or sourced) for the struture.

Hints for Effective QuizQuiz Trades (Kagan,2009)

Make sure you discuss why the students are doing the QuizQuiz Trade(Kagan,2009) structure (ie to learn to investigate a topic and present oyur findings to a team for integration into a project).

Aways introduce the Quiz Quiz Trade structure with a fun topic that has no"wrong" answers so that students understand how it works without feeling threatened.

You should always start with content - what you want to teach - and then choose your structure. If QuizQuiz Trade(Kagan,2009) doesn't fit your content, find another structure.
